New Jersey-based Intelligroup, a global provider of business consulting, technology, and outsourcing services, is set to enter the telecom expense management (TEM) space soon.
The $125-million company, whose core competency currently lies in life sciences, consumer products, high-tech and manufacturing verticals, has already initiated talks with a couple of vendors -- including Toronto-based Avotus Corporation -- that have been providing TEM solutions globally.

"TEM, the market for which is rapidly growing worldwide, is relatively a new area for us. We are holding discussions with two TEM vendors, and our idea is to utilize the TEM platform of one of these companies, develop customized solutions and deliver the same to the end-users," said Alok Pant, vice-president (global marketing and alliances), Intelligroup, told media persons here on Friday.

TEM helps enterprises best manage their telecom assets including circuits, services, equipment, locations, invoices and accounts, besides enforcing business processes like ordering, approving and problem resolution, and manage access to critical telecommunications infrastructure information.
According to him, the company's strategy is to leverage its strong clientele-base to give a major push to its TEM solutions. "Intelligroup has around 300 active customers at any given time in a year. Initially, our focus will be to take these solutions to our existing customers. We expect to role out our TEM solutions by this fiscal end," Pant said.

As per a recent Gartner study, the corporate spending on TEM is expected to touch $1.2 billion by 2008, from $500 million in 2005.The study reveals that an average Fortune 500 company spends close to $ 116 million on telecommunications services, while a mid-sized company invests $26 million per year.
Stating that Intelligroup is considering taking a strong look at the ERP testing area, Pant said the company would explore possibilities of tapping the India market, especially the SME sector, in verticals like retail and oil and gas.

The company had, in November 2006, launched its testing practice build upon the ERP best practices and tools that it had perfected in the SAP and Oracle arena. It currently provides both manual and automated testing practices for clients in life sciences, consumer products, and high-tech industry verticals.
Intelligroup has operations in the US, UK, Denmark and West Asia.
