“Successful innovation requires the ability to break into new business arenas that are ripe for growth”
Intelligroup is an ERP-focused lifecycle management partner. Bhalchandra Bhosale, senior vice president-Global SAP Practice, Intelligroup, feels the decision to focus on ERP alone was in itself an innovative decision at the time.
i.t. Why is it imperative for tech firms to keep innovating?
BB The famous quote of Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computers—“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower”—sums up the necessity for tech firms to keep innovating. Every organization does innovative at one point or the other, and often is forced to innovate in order to stay relevant. Hence, sustained innovation is the key for an organization’s continues growth trajectory. Successful innovation requires the ability to break into new business arenas that are ripe for growth.
Innovation includes not only new offerings and new business, but also extends to new management methods, approaches to selling and other aspects of growing a business.
i.t. How have you created an innovation culture in your organization?
BB True innovation comes at the intersection between three critical components: Knowledge, process, and leadership. The first role of leadership is convincing the organization that innovation really matters. Breaking down organizational boundaries and assigning the right people to the right projects is important. As a firm, our mantra is to create customer value through innovation – finding better ways to delight our customers and exceed their expectations; continually assessing and enhancing our products and services so they are what our customers need today, and evolve to what customers will require to address tomorrow’s business challenges.

i.t. Can you name the most significant innovation born out of your company in recent times?
BB To quote a few in Intelligroup, I would like to say our decision to be a niche player and focus on specific areas was definitely an innovation that worked well for Intelligroup’s recognition as one of the pioneers in the ERP service provider’s space.
There are many innovation examples related to the industry that can be quoted; to limit them to a few, I would like to draw attention to some of the innovations focused on business processes, such as developing the PharmaExpress solution, and the enhanced compliance and validation for the life sciences industry; a collaboration solution and one-click purchasing for Hi-Tech; and other innovative geographical information system (GIS)-based solutions, insurance reporting solutions, etc. In the technology space, an SOA (Service-oriented Architecture)- based transportation management solution (Carrier Integration Gateway) and Payment Integration are two innovations.
But the one that stands out is continued focus on tools and accelerators, the recently released Uptimizer ND for New Dimensions to help customers upgrade to BW 7.0,CRM 5.0,SCM 5.0, and SRM 5.0.Till date, the Intelligroup Uptimizer tool has helped over 400 customers in sizing, landscape synchronization, best practice analysis, and usage in terms of ERP upgrades.
